HM Revenue & Customs phishing emails

Phishing scams, data breaches and ransomware attacks can all too easily be thought of as things that happen to ‘other people’. After this weekend's huge cyber attack on large corporations as well as the NHS it's clear that this can happen to anyone and everyone.

HM Revenue & Customs are one of the main brands to be constantly targeted by phishing emails as people  pretend to be them to access your personal information and because of this, they've had to email their customers regarding this very common problem.

The email stated that if you receive an email from 'them' regarding 'your 2016 tax report' with an
attachment, do not open it. They have also advised that you just forward the email straight to them at phishing@hmrc.gsi.gov.uk and then delete it.
